Osmodrama:
Osmodrama ist ein interdisziplinäres Projekt und der Beginn einer neuen Kunstform: Kompositionen präziser Geruchsabfolgen und ihre Aufführung, eigenständig oder im Zusammenspiel mit anderen Künsten.

Das dafür erforderliche Instrument Smeller 2.0 ist eine elektronisch gesteuerte Geruchsorgel, als funktionales Kunstwerk vom Medienkünstler Wolfgang Georgsdorf in Zusammenarbeit mit Experten u.a. aus Parfümistik/Olfaktorik, Klimatechnik, Mechatronik und Informatik entwickelt und 2012 im OK-Zentrum für Gegenwartskunst in Linz erstmals ausgestellt. Das Instrument ist 1,6 Tonnen schwer, verfügt über derzeit 64 Geruchskanäle, mit denen über kontrollierte Luftströmung vorgemischte Gerüche in den Raum eingespeist werden.

Welt ohne Außen – Immersive Spaces since the 1960s
„Ranging from the Light and Space Movement of the late 1960s, to works by contemporary artists like Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster and Cyprien Gaillard, and performances and workshops, this exhibition spans a panorama, featuring a great variety of immersive practices which dissolve categories of viewer and work and diminish the distance between subject and object. Immersive works can only be experienced in their own respective temporality – they need a phase of departure, of immersion and emergence for which the exhibition will develop a specific dramaturgy.“

A group exhibition organised by Berliner Festspiele as part of the programme Immersion, curated by Tino Sehgal and Thomas Oberender.

Osmodrama:
Osmodrama is an interdisciplinary project that introduces a new artistic practice: compositions of precise smell sequences that are performed alone, or in interaction with other art forms.

The required instrument Smeller 2.0 is an electronically controlled scent organ, constructed to create smell sequences. This functional instrument was developed by Wolfgang Georgsdorf in collaboration with experts from fields such as perfuming, olfactory science, ventilation engineering, mechanical engineering and computer science. In 2012 Smeller 2.0 was first installed and run at the OK-Center for Contemporary Arts in Linz, Austria. Smeller 2.0 weighs 1.6 tons and presently has 64 smell channels available, through which controlled airstreams and prepared smells can be injected into a room, in a predetermined sequence.

Wolfgang Georgsdorf erzeugt mit dem Smeller Duftkompositionen, die uns an Situationen und Orte erinnern, und er erzählt damit Geschichten, zum Beispiel ein Circus-Besuch mit einer Geruchsabfolge von Popcorn, Elefantenkacke, Sägespäne, Schweiß, Pferdestall. In zeitlicher Abfolge entstehen so Bilder, Assoziationen. Kino im Kopf, nicht mit Worten, sondern mit Gerüchen.
